Abstract

Safety in navigation means navigate a vessel safely from port of departure to port of destination. Safely on voyage means the fulfillment of all the regulation stated by the Government of Indonesia which is the ratification of International Maritime Organization (IMO), this become an absolute factor for voyage activities. One of the requirment is navigation system on board of a vessel these systems are chartplotter and GPS navigation software. Chartplotter is a system integrated with Global Positioning System (GPS), Automatic Identification System (AIS), and other systems. While GPS navigation a software that work as a system to determine an object position in certain range. The use of chartplotter and GPS navigation software is expected to optimalized the safety navigation. The purpose of this study is to know the role of chartplotter and GPS navigation software to optimization safety navigation on board of MV. Lumoso Bahagia owned by PT. Tanto Intim Line. The method data of colection were using lyterature studies and field research taht use observation and interview techniques. The results of this study is showing the role of chartplotter and GPS navigation software giving safety optimization to navigate on board of MV. Lumoso Bahagia, and accordance with the regulation of Government of Indonesia, IMO, and PT Tanto Intim Line. Keywords : Safety navigation, charplotter, GPS navigation software, MV.
