Abstract
Information support from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) related to climate and weather conditions is very important role in transportation. This is not only felt by shipping and flight modes, but applies to all modes. This information will improve the safety of transportation be it transportation within the island, between islands and internationally. Science and technology is a matter that continues to be developed and must be developed by BMKG. Regarding the use of technology in exchanging information on weather conditions, at present, efforts to utilize technology in the shipping transportation sector have been implemented, for example through the use of Automatic Identification System (AIS) technology used in marine services. Besides functioning as a navigation tool, this tool can also be used to exchange information with ground stations on land and between ships regarding the latest weather conditions and climatology.
