Abstract
How to extinguish the fire on board of a the vessel depend a the location of the fire. The procedures are separts fire triangleusing the of decomposition , cooling, and insulation / localization technique. Because fire is one of the risks that can occur anytime and anywhere in the activitiescruise ships, the risk of fires on ships large enough for the number of cases of firesranked second after the number of the sinking of the ship. International Maritime Organization (IMO) issued several regulations aimed at ensuring the safety of operation of shipsand the prevention of pollution, one of which is 74 SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea). Due to the high level of fire risk that could occur on ships and lead substantial financial losses even until the casualties that number is not small, we need a fire prevention system, especially on passenger ships.The purpose of this to know the procedures and how to extinguish the fire in KM. MUTIARA SENTOSA II. The data collecting methods used in this study were field research, library research, and interview. The result of this study isthe crewstoknow and understand about the procedure and how to prevent and extinguish fire on board, based on fire trigger and the fire extinguiser type to put off the fire.
