Abstract
Nowadays sea transportation is a necessity and the best alternative in the world trade chain, therefore safe and comfortable voyage is needed. the safety of a voyage is one of the absolute factors that must be fulfilled so that the ship can operate properly. Due to trouble on board of a ship could happen due to nature and human factors, any trouble drlling a voyage is an emergency because it will endanger lifes on good of a ship and the ship it self. an emergency means circumstances beyond the normal circumstances that occur on board of a ship that could cause a detriment and has a tendency level can endanger the lives of humans, property, and environment in which the ship is located. There are various kinds of emergencies such as: Fire, Man over board, Grounding, Sinking ship, Collision, Abandon ship. Data collection method used is field research using Observation and Interview techniques and literature study method. The results of this study that the the efforts to increase the crew ships’ proficiency to face emergencies on board of MT. Sapta Samudra owned by PT. Humpuss has been done by drilling and also has been done according to the rules. Keywords: Improving the skills of crew in emergency situations
