Abstract
Loading and discharge activities is one of the activities that support the smooth flow of cargoes at a port. Loading and discharge process has several activities such as Stevedoring, Cargodoring, Receiving and Delevery. The Stevedoring companies responsibilities is to maintenance the smooth flow of cargoes. The smooth flow of cargoes can be achieved if the implementation is supported by skilled human resources and the use of good and adequate loading and discharge equipment. If any of these are not met, it will cause chaotic flow of cargoes. Which result to reduce the companies revenue. Therefore, maintenance and repair of loading and discharge equipment is needed to support the process. Maintenance and repair process is done solely to qualify the vessel seaworthyness. A vessel should be in regular maintenance to keep her ready to sail. The maintenance is in every part of the vessel, including the machinesand decks, which include loading and discharge equipment, this is done to support the procces of loading and discharge as optimal and expected as can be. Therefore, it is ekpected that the ship crew always maintenance of loading and discharge equipment at regular intervals so that the equipment can always be used well and activities implemented. The purpose of writing this paper is to know the optimization of maintenance and repair of loading and unloading tools as supporting the smooth loading and unloading activities at km. mitra kendari owned by PT. samudra raya indo lines. The research method used by the authors in the delivery of the problem is a qualitative descriptive method, to describe and describe the object under study. The result of this paper that the optimization of maintenance and repair of loading and unloading equipment as supporting the smooth loading and unloading activities at Km. mitra kendari owned by PT. samudra raya indo lines.
