Abstract

Engine have a power transfer system that is a gearbox that serves to channel power or engine power to the ship propeller, so that the unit can move to produce a movement of both rotation and shift. The gearbox is a special tool needed to adjust power or torque (moment / power) of a rotating motor, and the gearbox is also a means of converting the power of a rotating motor into greater power. Gearbox or transmission is one of the main components of the motor called the power transfer system, the transmission functions to move and change the power of the rotating motor, which is used to rotate the engine spindle and feed movements. Transmission also serves to regulate the speed of movement and torque and turn round, or reduce rotation so that it can move. Manual transmission or better known as the gearbox, there are several problems that include damage to the ship gearbox that must be identified and must be completed manually. Damages include the heat of the gearbox due to lack of oil in the gearbox and damage to the gearbox cooling pump, there is also due to wear out of the gearbox due to lack of checking on the ship's gearbox. How to solve it by doing a periodic check on the gearbox, which must be done with tiliti and overhoul to check the damage that occurs in the ship's gearbox. In order for the ship to run smoothly.
