Abstract
Indonesia is also called a maritime country because Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world with a sea area of approximately 3,273,810 km² or most of Indonesia's territory is a territorial waters. Besides being known as a maritime country, Indonesia is also known as an archipelagic country with the largest and largest number of islands in the world with 17,508 islands. In this paper the author takes the title about optimizing navigation aids at the port of Tanjung Emas in Semarang to improve shipping safety. By using qualitative methods and collecting observation data, interviews the authors collect. This has the purpose of the importance of supervision and maintenance of navigation navigation aids facilities, especially for shipping in the port area of Tanjung Emas Semarang, in this case the authors find obstacles in optimization in the navigation area of Semarang II class II as a supervisory institution for public facilities for navigation navigation aids, in the implementation of supervision and maintenance of navigation navigation aids are still many obstacles related to the role of the navigation district which is not participating and the lack of infrastructure facilities which are less accommodating so that it causes less than the implementation, supervision and maintenance of navigation navigation aids. The location of the navigation navigation equipment installation procedures must always be updated in accordance with the latest conditions in order to assist the navigators in determining the position in order to improve navigation safety. From the observations it can be concluded that the optimization of navigation navigation aids must be supported by a clear and qualified process. With a clear and uncomplicated process, it can be optimized effectively and efficiently so that common goals can be realized. Keywords: Navigation safety, maintenance, checking.
