Abstract

The writing of this paper aims to explain the influence of monsoon winds on the safety of shipping in the southern seas of Bali because Bali is one of the southern islands directly facing the Indian Ocean. There are several background problems that the author must resolve, namely, whether the monsoon is dangerous for the safety of the voyage, how the influence of the monsoon winds on the southern sea of Bali and actions in anticipating the impact of the monsoon winds on the southern sea of Bali. The writing of this paper aims to determine the dangers of monsoons in the southern seas of Bali for the safety of the voyage, to know the influence of the monsoon winds in the southern seas of Bali and to determine actions to deal with the impact of the monsoons when carrying out the voyage. Based on observations of data made during land practice (prada), the author uses several methods, namely, observation, interviews, document analysis, literature study and documentation. The results of the discussion of the problem of this paper are knowing the dangers caused by monsoon winds in the southern sea of Bali, knowing the period of monsoons in the southern sea of Bali and understanding and implementing anticipatory steps to face the impact of the monsoon winds. The conclusion of this paper is the size of the ship influential in dealing with bad weather, east monsoon winds cause high waves in the southern sea of Bali, weather information from BMKG Maritime becomes a reference preparation for facing bad weather during the voyage.
