Abstract

The stability of the ship is the ability of the ship to re-enforce the ship when it is floated, not to the left or the right, as well as on sailing, due to external influences working on it when the ship is shaken by waves or winds, the vessel can be erected again. types of ship stability 1. The stability of the vessel can be classified in two types of stability: the transverse stability of the vessel and the longitudinal stability of the vessel. The transverse stability of the vessel is the ability of the vessel to re-enforce when the vessel strikes in a transverse direction caused by external influences working on it. 2. The longitudinal stability of the vessel is the ability of the ship to re-enforce when the vessel strikes in the longitudinal direction caused by the external influence acting on it. In the stability theory is also known the term stability of the stability of the vessel in small zinc (between 00-150). Initial stability is determined by 3 points of gravity (Center of gravity) or commonly called point G, Center of buoyance or point B and Meta centric point or point M. It follows that the stability of the vessel greatly influences the safety ship vessels, especially chief officers need to take into account in terms of optimizing the loading process on ship KM.NIGA 56.
