Abstract

Effort of Maintenance and Repair the Turbocharger to increase the Function of Main Engine in KM. Mutiara Sentosa I PT. Atosim Lampung Pelayaran Jakarta The final project is a result of research conducted by the author over MV. Permata Surya during the voyage using NKK SEMPT PIELSTICK main engine with 7735 PS of power and VTR type of turbocharger. We had the idea to do an analysis of the importance of the maintenance and operation of turbocharger in order to gain the main engine work. The author uses the method of observation and literature study in this thesis. An observation method performed while practicing sailing for one year on the boat and literature study conducted by and from the various references obtained either from the Internet, and books that support the writing. The problems encountered in ship engineering is so complex, such as high temperature of exhaust gas, dark-coloured exhaust gas which is went out from funnel, and shortness of the air charger entering cylinder. But this can be anticipated by know how to be with good maintain and operate. The author tries to analyze and solve the questions above in the hope awarness partie related to ship engineering realizes the importance of maintenance and operation of the turbocharger toward a good operation of main engine.
