Abstract
Turbo Charger is a piece of auxiliary machinery, to increase the amount of air enters to the cylinder by harnessing the energy of the exhaust gas pressure. If previously relied on air intake vacuum formed because the piston movement in the intake stroke, then by air Turbo Charger pressed into the cylinders using a blower side that is rotated by the exhaust gas turbine. To obtain objective data, the authors use data collection from observations made on board KN. Karimun Jawa about damage to Turbo Charger. Damage to the Turbo Charger, rising air temperature inside the intercooler that is not as it should be, damage to the air filter causing the number of foreign objects inside the Turbo Charger. Therefore it is so important role Turbo Charger in supporting the performance of diesel engines, it is necessary to do maintenance and repair on the Turbo Charger component to avoid damage to the Turbo Charger. In this work to know the ways of maintenance and repair on the intercooler by way of overhaul and on the filter by adjusting the air filter in order to support the performance of Turbo Charger optimally. From the results of such treatment is expected to similar damage does not happen again. It is also expected that machine performance is also available, as maintenance can be done periodically.
