Abstract
A compressor is a very important auxiliary machinery for powering or starting the main engine, auxiliary machinery, and other purposes. In its performance on the vessel, the compressor has the potential to have problems of damage, such as, broken piston rings or corrosion. It is interesting to the author to discuss the problem in writing this paper. In preparing this paper, the authors conduct research and search for various data literature books related to the repair and maintenance of air compressors. Data taken from the results of the work of the author at PT. JANATA MARINA INDAH so that the data and literature in this paper is valid. The methods are interviews, observation and data collection through books and other literature. The author discusses how to maintenan and repair air compressors in detail according to the theory of chapter II. The result of the discussion of this paper is to prevent damage or corrosion in the air compressor should be held regular maintenance of lubrication to prevent the occurrence of a corrosion. It is suggested that the maintenance of the air compressor should be done regularly to keep the machine running smoothly during operation, as well as improving its inspection of all parts of the air compressor.
