Abstract
The final project is a result of research conducted by the author over MV BAHARU during the voyage using HANSHIN main engine with 1150 HP of power and MAN NR20 type of turbocharger. We had the idea to do an analysis of the importance of the maintenance and operation of turbocharger in order to gain the main engine work. The author uses the method of observation and literature study in this thesis. An observation method performed while practicing sailing for one year on the boat and literature study conducted by and from the various references obtained either from the Internet, and books that support the writing. The problems encountered in ship engineering is so complex, such as high temperature of exhaust gas, dark-coloured exhaust gas which is went out from funnel, and shortness of the air charger entering cylinder. But this can be anticipated by know how to be with good maintain and operate.. Keyword : Turbocharger, Intercooler, Exhaust gas, Charger air
