Abstract

A cooling machine is a series of engines or aircraft capable of working to produce temperatures or cold temperatures (low temperatures) by moving heat from indoors to outdoors (Himsar Ambarita: 2010). The principle of refrigeration that is widely used is the "Compression System". Compression can be produced with compressor power. In the compression system it works on two phases, namely liquid and steam. The function of the cooling machine is to cool food ingredients, especially fish and meat. The problems that most often occur in refrigerators on ships are: Compressor running but stopping suddenly, Compressor too often star and stop, Compressor running continuously, unusual noise on the compressor, High discharge temperature, Frost on the evaporator, Capability to cool down, reduce oil in the compressor. The purpose of making this paper aims to determine what actions should be taken when the engine coolant is having problems. Always check the engine coolant if there is a problem then immediately look for the cause and take action to overcome it, strive to replace sperpate and freon in accordance with the provisions so that the engine coolant can be maintained properly.
