Abstract
ANALYSIS OF THE REASON TO CRACK HAPPEN ON THE CYLINDER LINEAR OF AUXILIARY ENGINE IN MT. SELE Cylinder is a part of compression for combustion process between fuel and air. These processes will produce high gas pressure. Lack of lubrication will caus leeway between the piston and cylinder, and cause gas leakage, reduced compression pressure and reduced power output. This study aims to determine the cause of the imperfect lubrication on the liner cylinder wall on board and in order that the Officer (Engineer) on the vessel can prevent against cracks in the liner cylinder as early as possible so that the operation of the generator can be done in accordance with the procedure. This study was taken on MT. Sele about 1 ( one ) year, from march until first of April 2018, source of data is used is date prime and sekunder data, and the observation has get by writer is of information come from on board MT.Sele. To prevent leakage and produce the energy from the machine. If the machine was used in a prolonged time, its cylinder will become worn out. In order to keep the cylinder liner was not worn out,the material should be in worn resistant and also resistant to heat. Result has taken after the obsevation show that the Purpose the lubrication will be done characteristic material of oil lubrication should always be kept in order to prevent friction of movement of part withun movement part, the secondly, the creak inside of cylinder linear because not prefix of lubrication in side of cylinder. Thirdly, Maintenance of lubrication system will prevent the creak at cylinder linear so will get the efficiency engine is maximum. Keywords: Cylinder, Crack, Lubrication
