Abstract
Operating System and Maintenance of Steering Machines for Smooth Ship Movement In Motor Vassel. Lawit PT. PELNI The steering gear is a device that is above the ship that functions as a driver of the steering wheel of the ship so that the ship can turn right or left. The steering engine itself functions when the ship is moving. Where the system works presses the liquid in the form of oil (hydraulic system). Operation of the steering machine is very important role. Operating is not only running, moving, but also responsible for travel. Because of its important role, care is needed to protect the engine and avoid damage to both the components and other equipment related to the steering engine. Maintenance and repair of steering engines include maintaining hydraulic pumps and maintaining electricity to drive the steering engine.
