Abstract
The ship unberthing process is one of the port operational activities that carries a high risk of occupational accidents, as it involves interaction between personnel, mooring equipment, vessel conditions, and marine environmental factors. Pelabuhan Indonesia Maspion Gresik, as a port with high vessel traffic, has significant potential hazards during the unberthing stage, particularly due to mooring line tension, vessel movement, and weather conditions. This study aims to identify potential hazards, analyze the factors causing occupational accidents, and formulate risk control measures during the ship unberthing process at the Wharf of Pelabuhan Indonesia Maspion Gresik. The study method used is qualitative, employing field observations during on-the-job training and a literature review. The results indicate that the main hazards include mooring line snap-back, the risk of slipping or falling into the sea, collisions with vessel or Wharf structures, as well as adverse weather conditions and ineffective communication. The causes of occupational accidents are predominantly human factors, the condition of mooring equipment, and the working environment. Risk control measures include the implementation of strict work procedures, increased supervision of personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, routine maintenance of mooring equipment, improved effective communication, and evaluation of weather conditions prior to unberthing operations. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for improving occupational safety during ship unberthing operations at Pelabuhan Indonesia Maspion Gresik.
