Abstract
Problems in marine diesel generator engines are often caused by disruptions in the lu brication system and incorrect installation of the main bearing, which can reduce en gine performance and disrupt the continuity of ship operations. Damage to the main bearing has the potential to increase friction, excessive heat, and the risk of more seri ous engine damage. This study aims to analyze the effect of the lubrication system and incorrect installation of the main bearing on the performance of the Weichai WP4CD66E200 diesel generator engine on the TB. Patin Laut ship. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach, supported by observations during the overhaul process, technical documentation, and interviews with the crew and mechanical contractors. Data were analyzed using triangulation tech niques to obtain valid and comprehensive results. The results of the study indicate that decreased oil pressure, lubricant quality that does not meet specifications, and incorrect installation of the main bearing, such as inaccurate position and bolt tightening torque, are the main causes of main bearing damage. This condition results in suboptimal lu brication and uneven wear. The conclusion of this study confirms that a good lubrica tion system and proper installation of metal seats according to technical procedures are crucial for maintaining the reliability and service life of marine diesel generator en gines.
