Abstract

A crane is a mechanical device used by humans to move objects from one point to another. The crane's function is as a simple machine that helps people move loads beyond their capacity. Gantry cranes are one type of crane frequently used in industry. Several potential hazards are associated with the use of gantry cranes. Cranes can experience structural failures such as broken parts, causing them to collapse or tip over. Lifted loads can suddenly fall due to various factors such as broken ropes or broken hooks, which can cause serious injury or even death. The crane or its load can collide with other objects such as people, buildings, or other equipment. Lifting loads exceeding the crane's capacity can cause damage to the crane and even cause it to collapse or tip over. Cranes that come into contact with power lines can cause fatal electric shocks to operators and nearby workers. Strong winds, rain, or other inclement weather can disrupt the crane's stability and increase the risk of accidents. A method that can be used to reduce the high risk of workplace accidents in the use or operation of major and critical equipment is the SWIFT (Structured What-If Technique) method. The SWIFT method is a technique for identifying hazards using the keyword "what if" approach. The success of the SWIFT method is influenced by the user's knowledge of the system and process being analyzed. SWIFT work reports are created up to the risk assessment by calculating the RRN (Risk Rating Number) value. Keywords: crane, risk, SWIFT method
