Abstract
Indonesia is an archipelagic country with a large ocean area and has many marine trade lines. Therefore, marine transportation needs to be added and maintained from any cause, especially corrosion. The ship’s hull is always in direct contact with seawater so it must be extra protected and maintained more than other parts. Sandblasting is a method of cleaning the surface of a ship's hull from corrosion, remnants of old paint layers, and traces of fouling by using silica sand as an abrasive. The object of this study is a barge named TK. Berkat 12, that be sandblasted with a cleanliness level of Sa2.5. The sandblasting area consists of 2049 m2 for sweep blasting and 1202 m2 for spot blasting. After the sandblasting work, painting is carried out, namely the process of caring for and protecting the ship's hull from the dangers of damage due to corrosion and fouling. On the hull of Tk. Berkat 12 carried three coatings, including on the BGA area using AC primer, AC intermediate, and AF, and two coatings on the AGA area using AC primer and finishing paint. The area of AC primary coating is 3251 m2, intermediate AC is 3223 m2, AF is 3223 m2, and AGA finishing is 928 m2. Based on the results of the painting inspection in the form of DFT measurements, it is known that the painting results of TK. Berkat 12 has met BKI standards. Keywords: Ship repair, corroosiom, sandblasting, painting
