Abstract

The cylinder head is a component of the cylinder block cover which is in charge of closing the cylinder cavity, where the closed space is the combustion chamber, so that, with this cover, combustion can occur. To optimize the operational continuity and performance of the cylinder head system so that it runs as expected, periodic corrective actions are needed. Problems with the cylinder head are damage to the cylinder head packing resulting in compression leakage and the engine not functioning properly, and cracks in the cylinder head causing reduced engine power due to the entry of cooling water into the combustion chamber. The objectives to be achieved in this goal are to replace the cylinder head packing with a new one so as to prevent compression leakage and the engine to function properly and replace the cracked cylinder head with a new one so that engine power becomes more optimal. The research method used is analytical and qualitative methods by conducting related observations regarding the identification of damage to the cylinder head of the TB SML 102 generator engine. The data used are observation time data, damage to the cylinder head packing, and the cylinder head cracked. The results of this study indicate that replacing the cylinder head packing with a new one so as to prevent compression leakage and the engine functions properly and replace the cracked cylinder head so that engine power becomes more optimal.
