Abstract

The Seagull Ship is a ship with a semi-log bulk carrier type. This ship can load bulk cargo and can also load logs. Logs can be loaded in the hold (in hold) and on deck (on deck). In loading logs on deck, two types of lashing are required. During the process of loading wood logs on the deck (on deck), researchers found an obstacle at Tanjung Emas Harbor. Therefore, researchers are interested in reviewing the incident. The purpose of this study was to determine the cause of idle time in the implementation of loading and unloading at PT. The Ark of the Faithful Semarang. Wood log is a large or long irregular or unprocessed piece of wood. This payload can be loaded in the hold. In principle, loading logs must meet the principles of loading, namely protecting the ship, protecting the cargo, the crew, efficiently and systematically. This study uses interviews and documentation methods and the data used in this study is secondary data to describe the factors causing delays in loading logs on deck. The researcher found that the factors that hindered the on-deck loading process at Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang were the human resource factor where there were crew members who did not have previous experience in loading logs, the factor of the means of transportation (machine), and technical factor loading where the crew does not understand how to fasten. It is better when providing educational loading briefings before loading, include pictures or demonstrate directly to the crew so that the crew members more easily understand and understand.
