Abstract

One of the main supports in the operation of the engine is the fuel consumption of the engine. The quality and quantity of fuel for the engine is in accordance with the supply needed by the engine, then the engine performance will be smooth. The occurrence of non-smooth fuel supply, then the engine performance becomes less than the maximum. Disturbances and obstacles while sailing must be minimized. Disturbances that occur will harm many parties if they cannot be overcome in a short time. The smooth running of the main engine is supported by the auxiliary engine which becomes a system on board the ship. Function and role Purifier is one type of auxiliary aircraft on board that is used to separate fuel or lubricating oil with other liquids of different density. Writing this paper aims to find out in detail about the working principle and function of the fuel oil purifier, the construction and main parts of the purifier, the correct operating system of the fuel oil purifier. Periodic maintenance of the fuel oil purifier to prevent damage as well as how to analyze and handle the damage that occurs if the fuel oil purifier does not work normally. Method (method), literally means way. In addition to this method or methodical from Greek, metha (through or through), and hodos (road or way) so the method can mean a path or way that must be passed to achieve a certain goal. The types of methods used in problem solving are, direct method, interview method, library method. The fuel oil purifier on the ship is one of the auxiliary engines that has a very important role to produce clean fuel. The use of this clean fuel is to support the operation of the main engine in producing complete combustion. This study aims to determine the cause of the reducing valve membrane not working so that it causes over flow in the F.O Purifier and also to find out what factors cause damage to the main seal ring. The research method used is descriptive, namely observing directly the cause of damage to the main seal ring and then looking for the cause.
