Abstract

Circulation pump is a machine contained in the fuel system that functions to circulate fuel, called a circulation pump because the remaining fuel from the injectors that is not sprayed into the combustion chamber will flow back to the pump and will be pumped back into the fuel system. The availability of fuel is essential for the smooth operation of the main propulsion diesel engine which requires fuel to be used as combustion power in the main propulsion diesel engine. the pressure used in the fuel circulation process greatly affects the performance of the prime mover diesel engine. The existence of a circulation pump failure can affect the operation of the main propulsion diesel engine, so the pump pressure must always be maintained. The data collection technique is carried out through direct observation, documentation and literature study on subjects related to circulation pumps. Based on the results of the writing that has been done by the author, it can be concluded that the damage to the circulation pump is caused by two factors, namely wear and tear on the pump bearings causing excessive vibration or vibration on the pump causing a decrease in pump working pressure. The failure of the mechanical seal causes the fuel fluid to come out from between the pump shaft. To overcome these factors, bearing replacement, replacement of the mechanical seal on the pump can be carried out, and periodic application of grease. Keywords: Circulation, Fuel, Pump
