Abstract

Indonesia is also called the maritime country because Indonesia is the largest archipelago country in the world with an area of approximately 3,273,810 km² or most of Indonesia is a water territory. Besides known as maritime country, Indonesia is also known as an archipelagic country with the largest and widest number of islands in the world with the number of islands reaches 17,508 islands. Indonesia has the potential of very beautiful natural resources in the sea, but behind the beauty and potential there is a lot of problems in the world of shipping that occurred in Indonesia today because of the lack of government supervision in disciplining the ships that sail in the waters of Indonesia. From this then to maintain security and safety in sailing the government established vessel traffic service (VTS) for security and safety in shipping in Indonesia can run very well and avoid the danger of navigation that threatens the voyage. With the vessel traffic service risk of navigation hazard that threatens the ships that sail in the waters of Indonesia can be minimized as small as possible. The result of this process also affects the ships that sail in the waters of Indonesia can sail safely and smoothly. Safety and safety of ships sailing in Indonesian waters can be monitored so that the danger of navigation that threatens the environment and safety of the ship can be prevented as early as possible.
