Abstract
Cargo ship is a type of ship that contains goods in packages or bulk. Like MV. Spring Shine which is a cargo ship that contains goods in packaging. This ship berthing at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarangg and appointed PT. Samudra Indah Sejahtera as the loading and unloading agent. The purpose of loading and unloading activities is very important, namely to encourage the achievement of national logistics integration evenly in both urban and rural areas. The implementation of this observation uses descriptive qualitative research, namely by describing the implementation of loading and unloading procedures and processes from the ship to the hauling process out of the dock. Sources of data obtained are based on sources, activities and documents. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and document study so that it can be analyzed and conclusions drawn. The results of observations made at the Port of Tanjung Emas in Semarang, the authors concluded that the loading and unloading procedures and processes by PT. Samudra Indah Sejahtera has complied with the applicable regulations. However, in observation, the authors found several factors that interfere with loading and unloading performance, such as: labor problems, lack of security, corruption, and lack of port facilities. And there are also obstacles that are related to technicalities in the field, such as the ineffective docking of the ship, lack of coordination, damage to equipment, and ineffective means of transport. The solutions to overcome these problems include: improving employee work shifts, improving coordination between all parties involved in the loading and unloading process and making more thorough preparations.
