Abstract

The diesel engine is a type of internal combustion, according to the name of the internal combustion engine is a heat engine in it, the chemical energy of combustion is released in the cylinder engine, while the other factions of the steam engine energy generated during the combustion of fuel is passed prior to steam, and only through the work done in a steam turbine or engine (Gunawan Hanafi, Dr, 2006) one component is a diesel engine cylinder liner. Cylinder liner is one of the components of the engine that serves as the venue for the process of the combustion system. Where in this section is the place of piston moving from top dead point to the bottom dead point. Therefore, in order to avoid leakage of compression caused by friction between the piston rings with the cylinder wall liner is required wall cylinder liner that has a value of high hardness and needed treatment cylinder liner periodically in accordance with the provisions and based on the data included in the manual instruction book. Because if there is leakage of compression in the combustion chamber, this can result in energy released into the engine is reduced, and the burning of fuel to be imperfect in combustion room. Therefore, for maximum operator of the ship, by means of the cylinder liner treatments should always be made periodically to the components and systems for diesel engines on the damage. Keywords: diesel engine, cylinder liner.
