Abstract
Along with the times, the modernization of navigation equipment is increasingly sophisticated and greatly helps the accuracy of determining the position of ships on the surface of the earth, but every officer must understand how to use maps and determine the position to fit the path that was made before. Before carrying out a voyage a ship navigator must be able to prepare a voyage design or passage plan that is safe to pass, to find out how the methods in Menjangka Map to plan a voyage by shipping calculation and drawn directly on the map then programmed into the navigation tool on the ship then the voyage can travel safely, efficiently, economically and can be estimated how much time is needed in the cruise. What will be discussed in this paper is "Optimization in Keeping the Map for Sailing Safety and Security at MT. Eternal Oil I Owned by PT. Nusantara Armada Tanker ". optimization is the act of increasing or optimizing a process of finding the best solution. With the method of data collection both observation, interview, and library search that the author collected. In making a cruise plan a navigator must understand the stages of Preparation / Appraisal, Route Selection, Navigation Planning, Implementation and Monitoring. This paper discusses what equipment must be prepared when reaching a map such as a Sea Map, Sailing Directions, Ruler Ruler, Triangle Ruler, Pencil and Eraser Rubber. There are several methods in reaching the map to determine the position of the ship including cross bars, bars with characters, combination of bars and distances, slide bars, 4 letter cards, special papers, multiple letter orders, multiple orders, distance bars with distances, distance bars with bars, baringan with two bars. The author also reviews how to correct publication books by using Notice To Mariners as a reference for changes to publication books using the Insert, Replace, Delete, Report and Records methods. Based on the results of this study the author can conclude that the ship navigator must be able to carry out his duties as a navigator who regulates ship navigation in accordance with international and national rules. Keywords: Optimization, Plotting Chart, Security, Safety.
