Abstract
Steering gears is a machine that uses a hydraulic system to move the leaves of steering the ship. The nature of the hydraulic system that is not noisy (silent operation), smooth movement, able to work on a variety of weather is suitable to be applied to the steering gears on ships. hand Hydraulic machine used on non-propeller barges (barge no engine) and also used on lower tonnage ships and used to stand - by for a hydraulic machine is powered up. (Wikipedia // streeing gear – 1998) Operation of the streering engine is a very important role, operates not just running, moving, but also responsible for trevel. Because of the important role it is necessary the prensence of treatment to protect the engine and avoid demage both comp0nenths as well as other equipment associated with the engine wheel. Maintenance and repair of the machine wheel can be done by way of taking care of a hydraulic pump which served as a suppressant liquid, the steering shaft, taking care of the flow of electrical power which is so important to driver the machine wheel.(Widi Ferdiansyah – 2016) Key Word : maintenance, steering gear, Ship of Construction, Efficiency Work,Technology
