Abstract
Steering engine (strearing gear) steering the ship, driving is a mover tool that has a hydraulic system that uses a liquid such as oil, as a means of steering shaft to drive the suppressor of the ship. The hydraulic system has a pressure that is not noisy, have a smooth pressure movement to move the axis of the wheel and is able to work in a variety of weather for hydraulic system itself is great for stearing gear aboard. Operation of the Steering engine is a very important role. Operates not just running, moving, but also responsible for travel. Because of the important role it is necessary the presence of treatment to protect the engine and avoid damage both components as well as other equipment associated with the engine wheel. Maintenance and repair of the machine wheel (stearing gear) can be done by way of taking care of a hydraulic pump which served as a suppressant liquid, taking care of the pipe that is used for the flow of liquid from a hydraulic pump to the steering shaft, taking care of the flow of electrical power which is so important to drive the machine wheel. The results obtained after performing the job practice about operation and maintenance of the engine steering (stearing gear) are routinely expected to reduce the risk of damage to components and extend the use of the machine the wheel (stearing gear) that are useful to avoid accidents due to no proper functioning of all the operation of the machine the wheel so that the wheel is not controlled properly. Key words: Machine Steering
