Abstract

Diesel motor is the main engine of ship that must get attention and care intensively and continue, so that the diesel motor can operate smoothly and hold for long period of time. Ships as a means of sea transportation need to require timeliness for the sake of customer satisfaction, therefore the operation of the ship should not be disturbed just because of damage to the parent motor diesel. Diesel engine is if there is mixing between the air inside the cylinder with fuel injected in the form of mist with high pressure and the compression by the piston, then there is combustion that produces effort. From this work process we know that inside the combustion chamber is hot due to the main combustion cylinder head. The crack in the cylinder head is caused by three factors, cracked cylinder head of the parent machine, among others : Material fatigue factor from the cylinder head, lack of cooling in the cylinder head, the occurrence of aftershocks in the cylinder head (detonation), treatment to avoid cracks in the cylinder head is recommended for Replace the cylinder head in accordance with his working hours. Working hours maintenance from cylinder head in accordance with the engine maintenance in the manual book is 5000 working hours. So the result of the practice of cadets on the ship is the analysis of the occurrence of cracks cylinder head, care and know the cylinder head cracks regularly and periodically according to the working hours and the correct procedure according to the contents of the manual book is expected to prevent cracks in cylinder head of the parent machine. Benefit from the maintenance and repair of the cylinder head so that the ship's parent machine to move well during the voyage. So that the master machine does not slow down the work process when it will make the voyage. The risk of damage when the ship is sailing is small and does not result in unnecessary risks.
