Abstract
SYSTEM OF OPERATION AND WINDLASS MAINTENANCE ABOVE SHIP KN. SAR SADEWA 231 Windlass or anchor machine is an anchor crane-mounted for auxiliary machinery is used for lifting and l owering anchors and anchor chains by using hawse pipe anchor tube. The main function of windlass is as a connector or towing chain and anchor. Windlass has the ability to lift anchors from 30 - 60 meters depth. The problem of operating windlass or anchor engines that often occurred are windlass machine tank leaking, hydraulic oil is mix with water, unsuitable of are oil volume, hydraulic oil overheating. The problem of rubber coupling are rubber thinning coupling and uncentering of the electro motor shaft and shaft pump. The problems of hydraulic hose are includes leaking hose, clogged hose. The first result of this study was periodically maintenance at KN. SAR SADEWA 231 points out that the schedule should be arrange in routine to prevent any damages. The second result was operation and maintenance of windlass hydraulic system at KN. SAR SADEWA will be safer and efficient. Keywords: Windlass, hawse pipe, hydrolic drive.
