Abstract
The last project with the title MAINTENANCE TURBOCHARGER OF MAIN ENGINE TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF MV. BENTE. This last project have a purpose to analize about how to maintain Turbocharger of the Main Engine with the effort to improve the power Performance of Main Engine. Turbocharger is an equipment, to increase the amount of air entering into the slinder by utilizing exhaust gas energy. Turbocharger is an instrument to change the system of income naturally by force system. If previously air intake relies on a vacuum formed by piston friction at the suction step, then with the air turbocharger pressed into the cylinder using a compressor that is rotated by a flue gas turbine. In order to produce perfect combustion, additional air is required into the engine cylinder chamber at certain fuel flows. When the air density increases before being added to the cylinder, all the fuel burns and the engine power increases. For that diesel engine equipped with turbocharger aims to condense air into the engine cylinder. So the engine power is greater than the machine with the same dimensions, by increasing the mass of oxygen that enters the motor. The key advantage of a turbocharger is an increase in engine power with just a little added weight. Keywords: Turbocharger, Exhaust Gas, Compressor, Turbine.
