Abstract
To support the operation of a ship, an engine that functions as a power plant on the ship is needed. The tool is called a Diesel Generator. Considering the need for electricity on the ship is an important thing, because all the engines that are on the ship work by using electricity as a source of propulsion. So with the existence of the generator, optimal maintenance is needed to ensure that it can be operated at any time, so to minimize the damage that might occur to the generator so as to save the cost of operating the ship especially in terms of providing spare parts. The component that is routinely maintained during general overhoul every 10,000 hours is the cylinder liner block. Maintenance by changing engine oil or lubricants, oil or lubricant changes can reduce the frictional forces that occur between the piston ring and liner wall, thereby extending the life of the cylinder block and piston ring. In addition to lubrication, the cooling system is also very influential on the working process of the diesel generator. Because the process of lubrication and imperfect cooling will result in cracks in the cylinder wall caused by rising temperatures in the combustion chamber or cylinder block.
