Abstract
Transportation is a very important and strategic means in accelerating the economy of a country. The importance of transportation both land, sea and air is reflected in the growing need for freight services for the mobility of people and goods. in such conditions the development of ship agency business is necessary because not all shipping companies / principal have branch offices in each port. So the services of agency companies to facilitate all the needs of ships in the port stop / dock is needed. given the complexity of the process from the ship to enter the dock area, until the ship docked and the ship was about to depart from the port and continue the voyage. So the role of the ship's agent is crucial for the shipping businessmen and distributors. One of them is the maintenance of ship agency and the arrival and departure documents documentation of the vessel MV. SRIJAYA 8 on the port of Talang Duku Jambi is handled by PT. Pelnas Sabang Raya Indah Appointed By Ship Owner Of PT. Fajar Sribahari Sakti. Any document is manifest, bill of lading and port clearance. The process is not purely done by the shipping agency, but the shipping agent is also connected with related institutions such as Pelindo II Jambi branch, syahbandar and loading and unloading company in order to take care of everything the ship needs such as bunker fuel, clean water, loading and loading cargo to ship and extension of documents or near-death ship letters in order to facilitate the ship's clerance process so that the vessel does not experience a long delay which makes the tariff of the vessel more expensive. Where the tariff of the ship applicable to the principal is disbursement, concerning the cost of waveguide, labuh, delay and the need for the vessel using the facility at the port.
