Abstract
The main discussion in writing this paper is about the Switch Bill of Lading document in the trade triangle between countries, a very common occurrence in international trade, shipping agents find themselves dealing with more trading companies and foreign transactions to their foreigners than shipping factories to importer. In most cases, the Switch B / L is used to edit the sender's information, which is to replace the actual factory details with the trading agent who said, there might be various other motives for asking the Switch B / L, In this case PT. Pertamina Trans Kontinental Cilacap Branch acts as a branch office in Cilacap where one of its tasks is to take care of the needs of the vessel during the port as well as the background of the problem to be solved in this paper, namely who is involved in publishing documents, publishing processes and procedures, and objectives from the issuance of documents to switch bill of lading. This paper is nothing but to find out how the service side serves the needs of its customers. Based on data collection carried out during terrestrial practice (PRADA) the author uses several methods including observation, interview, and document analysis methods, obtained from the results that: the role of the agent in the issuance of documents will run smoothly if the party from the agent enters the data to be changed the document must be accurate so that there are no errors when entering the data needed by the customer.
