Abstract
Port Authority is a government official at the port who is appointed by the Minister and has the highest authority to carry out and supervise compliance with the provisions of legislation to ensure safety and security services. Port Authority has a major role in the state's obligations as a coastal sovereign country, including among other things the enforcement of administrative, civil and criminal maritime law. Safety and security are the main requirements in designing for crossing modes of transportation. Thus, ferry transport operators can do their best in decision making. In accordance with the awareness of the importance of human factors and the need to improve ship operational management in preventing ship accidents, cargo/goods and property, IMO issued a regulation on ship safety management. The purpose of this paper is to find out the duty of the Port Authority in terms of ferry service. The method used in this paper is to use field research, literature study, observation, and interviews. The results obtained from this paper indicate that the safety and security of the Bali-Lombok ferry service has largely met the applicable regulations.
