Abstract
Now, where free trade is becoming an economic concept that is embraced by many countries including Indonesia. One of them is cheap transportation facilities to support goods delivery activities through connecting sea between sea and land transportation modes. Along with the development of the age of PT. Pelindo III Tanjung Perak Branch Surabaya builds the Nilam Terminal which provides loading and unloading services for containers. The effectiveness of loading and unloading is very important for the smooth flow of goods in the port or terminal. The effectiveness of loading and unloading can be achieved if supported by sophisticated equipment, sufficient fleet and adequate resources for the smooth flow of goods at Nilam Terminal. The purpose of this study was to find out how to effectively load and unload the smooth flow of containers at Nilam Terminal PT. Pelindo III Tanjung Perak Branch Surabaya. In this case the method used is a method of existing problems based on the phenomenon in Nilam Terminal PT. Pelindo III Tanjung Perak Branch Surabaya, where service to containers currently shows a high graph, but this is not supported by time efficiency of container flows well. Loading and unloading equipment such as CC (Container Crane), has an important role for Nilam Terminal in the loading and unloading process but the minimum and often damaged CC is always an obstacle. In addition to CC which is a factor in the ineffectiveness of the loading and unloading process is the TKBM (Unloading Workforce) and Fleet or Truck. TKBM is a partner who plays an important role in the loading and unloading process, they cannot be forced but the PBM (Loading and Unloading Company) must remind them to work properly in accordance with what was agreed upon and the availability of the fleet is also influential. With sufficient fleet supplies to transport containers, the loading and unloading process at Patchouli Terminal will run effectively and container flow will run smoothly. Because the smoothness of containers will affect the productivity of Nilam Terminals.
