Abstract
The handling of chemical materials in the industrial environment requires special attention to occupational safety aspects. This study discusses the implementation of safety meeting procedures between the ship and the agency before the unloading and loading activities of alkaline chemicals at PT. Bintan Alumina Indonesia. The objective of this study is to understand how safety meetings are conducted, the extent to which the procedures are followed by the ship and agency parties, and to evaluate their effectiveness in preventing potential work accidents and environmental pollution. The methods used are direct observation, interviews with related parties, and documentation study of the applicable safety procedures in the company. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of safety meetings before loading and unloading activities plays an important role in aligning perceptions and responsibilities between the ship and agency parties. This procedure includes discussions on hazard identification, risk control measures, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency handling. The consistent and structured implementation of safety meetings has been proven to increase safety awareness, minimize the risk of accidents, and support safe and efficient operations in the port area. Thus, the implementation of this procedure becomes one of the key factors in creating a sustainable safety culture at PT. Bintan Alumina Indonesia. Keywords: implementation, safety, chemicals
