Abstract
The smooth performance of port operations is an important factor in supporting the effectiveness of the maritime transportation system. Well-managed port operations can improve the efficiency of ship services as well as the mobility of passengers and vehicles. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the smooth operational performance at the domestic terminal of Benoa Port, including port facilities, human resources, weather condition preparedness, and the timeliness of ship services within the port area. The population of this study consisted of 750 individuals, including ship crews and port officers, while the sample comprised 100 respondents selected using a non-probability sampling technique. This research employed a quantitative method through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using statistical analysis to determine the influence of each variable on the smoothness of port operations. The results of the study indicate that adequate port facilities, effective operational coordination, competent port officers, proper anticipation of weather conditions, and timely ship services have a significant influence on the smooth operational performance of the port. Furthermore, the results of the linear regression analysis produced the equation Y = -0,821 + 0,323X1 + 0,178X2 + 0,421X3 + 0,121X4 + μ. The findings show that the most dominant variable affecting the smooth operational performance of the port is weather condition preparedness, with a regression coefficient of 0.421. The coefficient of determination (R Square) obtained was 0.577 or 57.7%, indicating that the improvement in the smooth operational performance at the domestic terminal of Benoa Port is influenced by port facilities, human resources, weather condition preparedness, and timeliness of ship services by 57.7%, while the remaining 42.3% is influenced by other factors outside the variables examined in this study.
