Abstract

Technological advancements in the maritime sector require companies to provide optimal services, including the proper operation of the anchor windlass system, which plays a crucial role in ship safety and operational efficiency. This paper aims to examine the working system as well as the maintenance and repair procedures of the anchor windlass on board MT. SILKROAD 06. The research method used is qualitative, with data collected through observation, documentation, and interviews with engine crew members (Chief Engineer and Fourth Engineer) during the shore-based internship (Prada) at PT. JANATA MARINA INDAH. The results indicate that the anchor windlass on MT. SILKROAD 06 operates using an electrohydraulic drive system powered by the ship’s generator. Operational procedures must be carried out strictly in accordance with the manual book to ensure proper oil circulation and work safety. Maintenance activities are categorized into three types: routine maintenance, predictive maintenance, and preventive maintenance. Common issues identified include hydraulic pipe leakage, brake lining wear, and gear damage, which require corrective actions ranging from welding repairs to component replacement. The conclusion of this study is that routine inspection and strict compliance with operational procedures significantly influence the performance of the anchor windlass, ensuring it remains in ready-to-use condition and preventing major system failures.
