Abstract
One of the major ports in Central Java, Tanjung Emas Port Semarang is crucial to trade, logistics distribution, and shipping operations. This port's large volume of maritime traffic necessitates a dependable and well-functioning navigation safety system. Lighthouses, light beacons, buoys, and AIS AtoN are examples of Aids to Navigation (AtoN), which are crucial elements that function as ship guides, navigation danger signs, and suppliers of location and directional information. Therefore, in order to guarantee maritime safety and reduce the likelihood of marine accidents, regular assessment of the physical state and functionality of AtoN is required. The objectives of this study are to assess the physical state of AtoN at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang, pinpoint the causes of any changes or degradation in AtoN condition, and investigate the function of AtoN in promoting safe and effective navigation. Data was gathered through field observations, interviews with the District Navigation Office (DISNAV) and other organizations, and a review of pertinent laws and literature. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings show that, overall, AtoN at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang is in good physical condition and is still suitable for operation in compliance with applicable standards, despite some indications of deterioration brought on by weather, aging, and the marine environment. As navigation aids, hazard markers, and safety support for vessels, AtoN play a critical role in improving maritime safety, especially during nighttime operations, inclement weather, and times of high maritime traffic density. Keywords: AtoN, DISNAV, Port, safety, navigation
