Abstract
The purpose of this writing is to provide guidelines for the operation and maintenance of cranes on the ship K.N. EDAM to streamline loading and unloading activities and enhance safety in Indonesian waters in accordance with national regulations and IMO provisions. The qualitative method includes direct observation of crane routines, interviews with ship crew, and analysis of maintenance logs. The results of observations indicate that the main obstacles are component wear due to the marine environment, and inconsistent checklist procedures leading to minor incidents and reduced efficiency. The conclusion is that qualitative-based preventive maintenance can improve crane reliability, with recommendations for simulation training and routine audits to support smooth ship operations.
