Abstract
The Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) is a critical component in a ship’s propulsion system, functioning to adjust the blade pitch in order to achieve optimal thrust efficiency. The performance of the CPP is highly influenced by the condition of its components and the maintenance system applied. This study aims to identify common types of damage occurring in CPP systems and to analyze the repair and maintenance methods carried out during the docking process at PT. Triputra Pilar Perkasa. The data collection methods used include direct observation in the field, interviews with technical personnel, and documentation studies of TB ship maintenance data. Cavalo Marinho 16. The results indicate that common damages found in CPP systems include overheating, cracks, leaks, and noise. These issues are generally caused by inadequate lubrication systems, component wear due to continuous operation, and lack of regular maintenance. Repair processes involve cleaning components, replacing damaged parts such as seals and bearings, welding cracked areas, and straightening deformed propeller blades. In addition, routine maintenance activities such as visual inspection, pitch measurement, and hydraulic system checks have proven effective in preventing more severe damage. The implementation of planned maintenance during docking has a positive impact on improving operational reliability, extending component service life, and reducing the risk of unexpected failures that may disrupt ship operations. Therefore, a systematic and continuous maintenance approach to CPP systems is essential to support efficiency, safety, and sustainability in maritime operations.
