Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic nation between one island with another island has a considerable distance and connect with each other in the sea. then transport plays an important role in term of shortening. According to Director Genersl of Sea Transportation, that 90% of the trade world is done by sea. and 95,2% in terms of value of the trade in Indonesia by sea. And now, almost every trade both exports and imports of goods using container for packing the goods to be shipped, Container handling in turn requires its use, because otherwise it will happen that will cause damage claims. In the standard container operations at PT. SPIL branch Manokwari an operational duty to handle the demolition, or the entry and exit of cargo containers from the arrival of ship and boats out of the harbor, as well as perfrom a service of what is needed by shippers and freight forwarders ship (EMKL), as do the maintenance expenditure of containers to load certain goods to be sent, the maintennce problems that arise in the handling of containers, and the documents required. In the task management and supervision of container in ports related agencies such as the PT. PELINDO charge of loading and unloading of goods on board , ship freight forwarding (EMKL) in charge of delevering the goods to the owner of the goods.
