Abstract
This research aims to analyze the efficiency of the logistics system in the operation of passenger and vehicle vessels at PT Dharma Lautan Utama, Labuan Bajo Branch. Logistics efficiency is a crucial factor in supporting the success of maritime transportation operations, especially in areas like Labuan Bajo, which is developing as a tourism destination and logistics hub. In this study, efficiency is measured by comparing actual operational costs with standard or ideal costs using a quantitative approach. The variables analyzed include fixed and variable costs, the number of vessel trips, service time during loading and unloading, and obstacles encountered in the logistics process. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collection techniques including direct observation, documentation of operational reports, and interviews with company personnel. The findings indicate inefficiencies between actual and standard costs in several voyage periods, mainly caused by fluctuations in fuel prices, prolonged port service times, and inconsistent cargo volumes. Furthermore, port facility limitations, loading queue delays, and weather conditions also contribute to reduced efficiency. On average, the vessel’s operational efficiency remains below the company's ideal benchmark, suggesting the need for improvements in route management, cost control, and service scheduling systems. This study also recommends the implementation of digital logistics systems to enhance accuracy and decision-making responsiveness.
