Abstract
The Port Management Unit Office plays a crucial role in the supervision and law enforcement of shipping safety and security, coordinating government activities at the port, and regulating and controlling port activities. The author's objective in compiling this scientific paper is to determine whether the role of the Class II Branta Port Management Unit Office is optimal or not, and to determine how the Class II Branta Port Management Unit Office supervises shipping safety. In this study, data was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted from September 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024. The research method used was qualitative, describing the data in the form of descriptions of the phenomena studied based on theories related to the problem being analyzed. The results of the study can be concluded that the Class II Branta Port Management Unit Office, Madura, needs to be improved through technical and administrative skills, work coordination, and increased dedication to task development to achieve ship safety. Furthermore, the Class II Branta Port Management Unit Office, Madura, has complied with the requirements and regulations in an effort to improve shipping safety and security and is operating optimally.
