Abstract
Indonesia, as an archipelagic country with more than 17,380 islands, has very important shipping routes for the transportation of people and the delivery of logistics. In this context, the maintenance of navigation equipment on ships, particularly on KN. SAR Sadewa 231, is crucial to ensure safety and efficiency in navigation. This writing aims to understand the operational functions of navigation equipment maintenance by the crew of KN. SAR Sadewa 231, to identify the activities carried out during the maintenance process of navigation equipment by the crew of KN. SAR Sadewa 231, to determine the forms of activities conducted during the maintenance process of navigation equipment on KN. The method used in this writing is qualitative, involving interviews and field observations. The results of this writing indicate that maintenance is carried out periodically and includes physical inspections, cleaning, and functional testing of the equipment, with daily, weekly, and monthly frequencies. Navigation equipment such as radar and gyro compass often experiences malfunctions, making prompt handling of these issues very important. Each maintenance activity is recorded in official documents, including navigation logbooks and checklists, which serve as work reports and assist in future maintenance planning. With clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance activities can be conducted in a structured and efficient manner, supporting the safety of navigation in Indonesian waters.
