Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to find out how the Syahbandar's responsibilities in port security supervision and how the Shari'ah task is in order to improve shipping safety. Based on the use of the library observation method it was concluded that the supervision of the Syahbandar was very important because security and safety had become its duty. The actions taken are to increase security and safety supervision of matters relating to shipping. The task of supervision carried out by a syahbandar in the context of regulating facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of sea transportation operations is very important. Syahbandar in its duty must ensure the awareness of users of sea transportation services such as companies, shipowners, crew members to comply with the law and provisions in accordance with applicable laws in the field of shipping safety which are generally still low and not many understand.
