Abstract
Passenger safety is a condition in which every individual is free from the risk of traffic accidents caused by human factors, vehicles, roads, and/or the environment, considering the vital and strategic role of road traffic and transportation in meeting safety standards that are important for the entire community. East Nusa Tenggara Province has a transportation agency, specifically located in West Sumba. This study aims to determine the effect of vehicle condition, vehicle maintenance facilities, load capacity, and road condition on passenger safety at the West Sumba Transportation Agency. The population in this study consists of users of motor vehicle inspection services at the West Sumba Regency Transportation Agency, with a sample of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with an incidental sampling method. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 25 software.The regression formulation in this study is as follows: Y=1.632+0.289X1+0.221X2+0.485X3+0.353X4+μ. From this equation, it is known that the most dominant variable affecting passenger safety is road condition, with a regression coefficient of 0.353. The R² (R Square) test obtained a result of 0.561 or 56.1%, which means that passenger safety is influenced by the variables of vehicle condition, vehicle maintenance facilities, load capacity, and road condition by 56.1%, while other factors affecting passenger safety at the West Sumba Transportation Agency account for 43.9%.
